The Batavia BID is a nonprofit corporation established for the purpose
of revitalizing the downtown. The group is focused on business attraction
and retention, marketing, events, streetscape aesthetics and promotion.

BOARD OF ASSESSMENT
REVIEW [ top ]
A five member board responsible for hearing grievances regarding the valuation
of property.

CABLE TV ADVISORY BOARD

The Cable TV Advisory Board is responsible for monitoring and advising
Time Warner Cable about their operations. This board consists of 7 members.

HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION [ top
]
A
seven member board responsible for the protection, enhancement, and perpetuation
of landmarks and historic districts. The intent of the Board is to foster
civic pride in accomplishments of the past, protect and enhance the City's
attractiveness to visitors and insure harmonious, orderly and efficient
growth and development in the City of Batavia.

MALL OPERATING COMMITTEE

The Mall Operating Committee is made up of mall owners and City staff
and is responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of the
mall.

NEIGHBORHOOD IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE [ top ]
The Neighborhood Improvement Committee makes recommendations and develops strategies to enhance the quality of life within the City’s neighborhoods. This committee consists of seven members.

PLANNING
AND DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE [

The Planning and Development Committee is a seven-member board responsible
for subdivisions, site plans, special sign and special use permits. Interpretation
of the City's Comprehensive Plan is also a Planning and Development Committee
responsibility.

PLUMBING BOARD [

The
plumbing board consists of 5 members and is responsible for overseeing
all aspects of city plumbers and participates in formulating a code of
rules regulating the work of plumbing and drainage in the city. The plumbing
board also charges and collects fees for plumber examinations.

TRAFFIC

The Traffic
Committee is responsible for identifying and evaluating how to improve
pedestrian and vehicular traffic throughout the community. The Committee's
focus is on the following areas: vehicle traffic, pedestrian and municipal
parking.

YOUTH
BOARD [ top

The Youth Board is responsible for providing leadership development programs
for the youth. The intent of the Board is to prevent juvenile delinquency
by providing a variety of positive youth programs, services and activities.
The Youth Board is comprised of 15 members, 4 of which are student members.

ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS

The Zoning Board of Appeals is comprised of 7 members and is responsible
for hearing appeals when a person believes that an exception (variance)
to the Zoning Ordinance should be made for their property or when a person
disagrees with a decision or action made by the Zoning Officer.
